Twitter/Facebook

As a production company 'GR Productions' I have decided to set up a Facebook and Twitter page to promote our music video and appeal more to our target audience. This way we can promote our products and as Facebook and Twitter are now very powerful marketing websites which are used by a wide range of companies.

Our twitter page can be found here.

Our Chosen Record Label

After looking into record labels that have already been produced I have decided that for our record label we can use our initials to create a record label. 'GR Productions' is our chosen record label because the G stands for Georgia and the R stands for Romy which is my partner within this production of our music video.

After looking into other record labels we sat down and tried to think of a record label that would sound good for our production but couldn't think of something similar to Sony, Emi, Universal etc. This is why we decided to use our initials for our record label.

This is our record label designed how we would like it too look.

Narrative Pitch

We have a range of things that we can film for a narrative and because the song that we have chosen takes place within a school we have access to film around the school building. We are planning to stick to the same sort of narrative that is used with the official music video.

There are many shots that have been used throughout the vide which we are looking to include within our music video that we make.

The narrative includes little Jessie destroying the school as she is being bullied in her class, but the lyrics then go on to show that she fights back and she is happy like when she sings 'Who's laughing now'

At the end of the video all the students come together and are happy, we are still yet too decide whether we are going to include this within our video.

Performance Pitch

We have looked closely at Jessie J's music video for Who's Laughing Now and figured out to stick to the codes and conventions to fit the song all of our performance shots of our main singer will take place in the classroom sticking to the setting where the official video is set.

We have Olivia singing the main performance shots in the classroom and because our music video is set in a school and to fit in with the codes and conventions we have kept it so we have a 'Big Jessie' and 'Little Jessie' There are a few shots that we are hoping to film of Romy singing just like it appears in the music video although many of her shots are narrative.

We are hoping to use a variety of shots so that we can add performance shots throughout our music video.

I have researched into some different record labels to help me produce my own record label to go along with my research and planning before we produce our music video. Although I have research into depth about different record labels such as the 'Big Four' companies this isn't necessarily going to help me produce a record label but it is good to have the information in the back of my mind. I can see most of the labels take quite a simple approach when it comes to design and this is something I will take into consideration when producing my own record label.

Progress So Far

We have been filming for the last couple of media lessons to get our performance and narrative shots complete. We started with a plan of the shots and locations of what we were going to film to try and get as much footage done as possible. We set up our media classroom with exam tables and different coloured chairs to make the scene look like more of a younger classroom environment, as the story line for the video

We focused on the performance shots within the classroom where Jessie J is seen singing on her own.
We then went on to look at some of the narrative shots which we filmed in the corridors inside of the school, which made it easier for our group to film as our location was inside of school. We made a rough story board which were able to follow during filming so we knew what shots we had to film.

All of these shots have been uploaded onto the editing machines so that we could sync our song with the shots that we had. We still have a few narrative shots that we need to film but these are much more complex and are going to include more props than what we have been used to using in the shots that we have already filmed.

I have emailed the company that owns the song to assure it is ok to use the song that we are intending to use for our music video and to let them know that it is for educational purposes only.

Roles and Responsibilities

There are three of us within our group that are going to share the roles that we will need to take on board when it comes to producing our music video. We haven't assigned specific roles for each of us because olivia is going to be our main singer although each us are going to feature within the music video we will each have to take the role of filming at some point during the music video.

When we were filming one scene where we had lots of people involved Olivia took the role of director and filming, our teacher advised us on different shots that he thought would look good so we took that into consideration and adapted the shots to how we thought would look good within our music video.

All of the other shots that we included within our music video we each took it in turns to film and direct. All of the main shots of Olivia were filmed by myself and then the other shots of Romy were filmed by both me and Olivia.
